Church Director
December 2009
I would like to take a moment and thank you for your hard work, dedication and devotion in helping our parish communities throughout the Dioceses in the State of Indiana. As I review the many activity reports each month, I am filled with joy to see the many ways your Councils continue to build up God's Kingdom. As Knights of Columbus, we are the "right arm of the Church." This cannot be more evidenced in the ways you make yourselves visible to the parish faith community. You lead our parish faith communities by your example. By expressing your love, care and devotion to Holy Mother Church, you are teaching our parishioners how to be good stewards of time, talent and treasure. This also holds true within the prayer life of your Councils. As you pray before the Holy Eucharist during Holy Hours, or the Rosary before Mass, gathering at Corporate Communions or fulfilling liturgical ministerial roles during a Knight's Mass, you give powerful testimony as to how one must live out their baptismal calling.
Another area of the Church that needs our continued attention and assistance is that of Vocations. Recently, I met with the Vocation Director of the Diocese of Gary. As you will hear in my presentation at our State Winter Meeting, the Vocation Directors from across the State of Indiana need our assistance in their efforts to promote priestly vocations. The Vocations Directors have a deep appreciation for the Knights of Columbus. This comes about by the support provided to promote vocations to the priesthood and our eagerness to facilitate opportunities to raise vocation awareness and promote the priesthood.
I will present to the Indiana State Council Knights of Columbus the projects and plans that need the support of the Indiana State Council Knights of Columbus. Please consider what your Councils can do to make these projects and plans a reality in the Dioceses of Indiana.
Vivat Jesus,
Deacon Michael W. Halas
State Church Director
