May 2017

Worthy Brother Knights,

As we move toward the last quarter of our fraternal year, my prayer is that as we, as the head of our respective spiritual household, walk closer with Christ!

2017 State Convention Report

The 116th Annual Meeting for the Indiana State Council shows that the 2016-2017 fraternal year was something special. Tradition played a big role in recognition,

The 2017 Outstanding Catholic Youth Award Sarah Swanson of Mooresville, IN, sponsored by Saint Thomas More Council 7431, District 27, Grand Knight Kevin O’Farrell, is a young lady who has demonstrated a common theme of achievement in the face of adversity and has remained steadfast in her commitment to her faith, not only performing corporal and spiritual works of mercy, but integrating them in to a living strategy that was impressive in person.  When you know there are young people in the Church like Sarah, you feel a bit more secure that our faith will be in good hands in the future.

The 2017 Outstanding Youth Activity by a Council Award St Michael the Archangel Council 12177 of Schererville, District 2 – Dave Negrete DD, Robert Hanson GK holds a Special Needs Christmas Party each year to facilitate traditional Christmas fun in a supportive environment.  For 15 years, Deacon Ron Pile PGK, has championed the party.  It has games, crafts and prizes.  The council partners with the local Boy Scout troop to allow all of the kids to interact normally.  There is story time and finally, St, Nick pays a visit.  A shining example of how we support our parish and community through our ministry of service as Knights of Columbus.

The 2017 Drug Awareness and Abuse Poster Award Cooper Eslick of Munster, sponsored by St. Pope John Paul II Council 16008, District 2 – Dave Negrete DD, Robert Hornback GK, created a simple and effective poster that shows the ultimate impact of using drugs.
