so many different types of organizations for young men in today's
world, what makes the Columbian Squires different? This is a Catholic
organization that builds character and develops leadership. The Squires
program was established August 4, 1925 by Christian Brother Barnabas
McDonald in Duluth, Minnesota. Today there are more that 1,100 Squires
Circles with nearly 25,000 members in the United States, Canada, the
Philippines, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, the Virgin Island and
Guam. The Columbian Squires goal is to help young men to develop into
the leaders of the Church and community of tomorrow. Their motto is
Esto Dignus, Latin for "Be Worthy." Membership is open to young men
between the ages of 10 and 18 years of age. |
