SOS/RSVP Report Update

August, 2009

The 2009 Support Our Seminarians has officially ended for the 2009 campaign, and for the awarding of awards to those councils who achieved and reached their suggested goal of 100% or better. Awards have been, or will be posted on the State Website. If your council is not noted, that means that it has not sent in the money collected from its membership. However, l am still endeavoring to get as many delinquent councils to send in their money before the 2010 billing periods comes upon us.

A total of $44,792.90 was collected from 133 participating councils. 82 Certificates of Appreciation were given out for councils who were 100-199% of goal.  Fifteen Councils were awarded plaques for achieving a goal of 200-299%.  Ten councils were at 300-399%. 4 at 400-499%.  One each at 500-599% and 600-699% respectfully.  Two councils surpassed a goal of 900%. Non-councils who contributed to the SOS fund were the K of C Wives, the Financial Secretary's Assn, St. John Vianney Assembly, and the Gibault Envoys. My sincere thanks and gratitude goes out to all knights who gave a bit of themselves for our diocesan priests. Those councils who did not make goal for 2009, and certainly do so for 2010.

Checks will be distributed to all seminarians of the 5 Indiana Dioceses this fall. The amount each will receive will depend on the number of seminarians enrolled.

The most recent RSVP report which is issued each January is for 2007-2008. It shows that 26 councils participated, distributing a total of $33,500.00 , issuing checks to 63 seminarians, and 1 postulant.  This is an excellent program for those who wish to donate funds to order (non-diocesan) seminarians, and/or postulants.
